Living in the bush

The villa is located on a beautiful and exclusive estate; a 1000 hectare private game reserve where a large number of African animals roam freely. Villa Tall Horse is situated on a plot of 1 hectare (larger than a football field!) with all the space and privacy you could wish for. It is likely that at some point you will receive an unexpected visitor while you are lying by the pool. The Estate is completely fenced and animals such as giraffes, zebras, impalas and monkeys live here, but rest assured, you will not encounter the big five here.

Wilderness area

About 2/3 of the estate is exclusively for the animals. In this wilderness area you can walk, cycle or take a game drive with your own car. Our tip: animals regularly come to drink at the dam and this is an ideal place to spot animals and birds during a beautiful sunset.

Horseback riding on the estate

The estate has its own professional riding school. You can take horse riding lessons here, but even without experience you can book a safari tour on horseback for 1, 2 or 3 hours in the Wilderness Area of ​​the Estate under professional guidance. This is also possible with young children.

Hoedspruit is surrounded by the Greater Kruger, a group of private reserves that have an open connection with the Kruger Park. Here you can go on a game drive in an open jeep under the guidance of a professional guide and get acquainted with the special and overwhelming animal kingdom of South Africa. Hoedspruit Endangered Spices Centre

The HESC provides a fascinating insight into rare, vulnerable and endangered species and animal conservation efforts in general. It offers fun and informative tours and other specialized excursions to visitors. The entrance costs contribute directly to the conservation projects and daily running costs.

Cultural Village

The history and culture of the African tribes comes alive at Nyani Cultural Village. The cultural journey begins in the village of Shangaan where guests experience an original show "Limpopo Pathways" featuring the costumes, songs and dances. After the show, you will be introduced to all aspects of a typical Shangaan village.

Various restaurants

Of course, Villa Tall Horse has a fully equipped kitchen. But if you want to eat outside, there are several nice restaurants in Hoedspruit, such as the Hat and Creek, Sleepers and the Thirsty Giraffe. Do you want to go out within walking distance? Then there is always the Aerotel, an old plane converted into a small-scale boutique hotel. You can also enjoy a nice lunch here and braai evenings are regularly held.

Kruger Park

The Kruger Park is also excellent for visiting with your own car. From Hoedspruit you drive along the Greater Kruger fence to the Orpen Gate, 40 minutes away from the villa, from where you can make beautiful day trips and enjoy nature at your own pace. Blyde river canyon

If you drive in the other direction from Hoedspruit, you enter a completely different world. You can already see them from the luxurious sundeck of Villa Tall Horse: the small Drakensberg mountains, with the Mariepskop (1944 meters) as the highest point. Between the mountains is the Blyde River Canyon, the largest living green canyon in the world. The canyon is one of the greatest sights in South Africa and is part of the Panorama Route. You can take a boat trip on the river but also opt for more action such as tubing, canyoning and canoeing.

Panorama route

The Panorama Route is one of the most beautiful routes in South Africa with a succession of natural wonders. Over a distance of 180 km you will find exceptionally high waterfalls and amazing views. Along the way you will pass Pilgrims Rest, a former gold mining village, where you can make a nice lunch stop.
